The first-generation D2 S8 produced in 1996 is a well-loved, full-size, executive sedan. This car featured a 4.2L V8 with 340 horsepower and 302 ft-lbs torque, was based on the same V-W Group D2 platform, and was assembled on their Space Frame (ASF) technology.

ASF is a self-supporting aluminum body which reduces body weight of the vehicle. Using aluminum rather than steel leads to higher strength, improved performance, better handling, and lower fuel consumption.

The D2 A8/S8 was competing with other executive class 4-door sedans at the time such as the XJR. This full-size sedan lived up to it's expectations of being a luxury vehicle by having comfortable interior, and sporty performance. It was able to accelerate from 0-60mph in 6.6 seconds while keeping you comfy!
