The first C-platform 4-door 100 developed on the V-W C1 platform in 1968. It's name "100" originated from it's power output of the top version and came in 2-door, 4-door, and the fastback Coupé S. The 100, 100S, and 100LS came with 1.8L 4 cylinder engines while the fastback had a 1.9L.
This was simply a vehicle that they used to convince V-W to allow them to build an executive sedan. Most of them had carburetors but in 1975, there was fuel injection added to the lineup. The standard transmission was a 4-speed manual, and later introducing a 3-speed automatic.
